17-4 PH Stainless Steel Shoulder Screw, Socket Head Cap, Hex Socket Drive, Standard Tolerance, Meets ASME B18.3, 4-40 Thread Size, 1/8" Shoulder Diameter, 7/16" Shoulder Length

Price: $3.18
The 17-4 PH stainless steel shoulder screw has a plain finish and a socket cap head with hex socket drive, and meets American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME B18.3 specifications. The 17-4 PH stainless steel material provides good corrosion resistance and high strength. The material may be slightly magnetic. The socket cap head is round with a flat top and a high profile that provides high strength, and installs using an internal drive system that enables more compact spacing than a hex head cap screw. The hex socket drive has a hexagonal slot that requires an Allen key driver, also known as a hex key or Allen wrench.Shoulder screws, also known as shoulder or stripper bolts, have a smooth unthreaded shaft that acts as a spacer or bearing surface between the threaded portion and the screw head. Shoulder screws with round shafts are commonly used for items that require rotation, while those with square shafts are typically used to lock into place and prevent rotation.

GRK RSS142HP RSS HandyPak 1/4X2" Structural Screws, 50 Screws per Package

GRKs RSS Rugged Structural Screw is made of specially hardened steel to provide you with high tensile, torque and shear strength. The sharp threads and points bite instantly into the material (including hardwood), reducing the splitting effect due to smaller shanks.

RSS screws which are 3"1/8 and longer have a six threaded CEE thread that enlarges the screw hole for the non-threaded portion of the fastener, allowing the wood to settle easily and increasing the screws drawing strength. The CEE thread also reduces the likelihood of splitting the wood and the friction on the screw shank which can result in lowering the driving torque.

Our round head with built-in shield (washer type head) has no sharp edges such as on conventional lag screws. The added shoulder (nominal diameter) underneath the washer has the ability to center the RSS screw in pre-drilled hardware like hinges and connector plates. Short lengths of the RSS may also be used to install wire diamond mesh for stucco buildings.

The #30 Star Drive will deliver approximately 650 lbf of energy, eliminating the need to drill a pilot hole.

The RSS screw is the only lag screw replacement of its kind.

Shoulder screws, also known as shoulder bolts, are used for several different applications, including those that involve rotation or require a locking type of screw. Shoulder screws are distinct from other types of screws due to the fact that they are only partially threaded, leaving a smooth-sided shaft between the threading and the head. This shaft is usually slightly larger than the threaded portion of the screw. They are often used in automotive and mechanical applications. Nylon 6/6 is a general-purpose thermoplastic with high resistance to organic chemicals, acids, and alkalis. Nylon wears well against other surfaces. It does exhibit some dimensional swelling in wet applications which should be taken into account with its use. Color is off-white. Hex socket drive systems are driven by hex wrenches or power tools with hexagonal bits. A threaded fastener's size name includes information about the major external diameter, followed by the thread pitch, which indicates if it is coarse or fine.

Melamine, particle board, and MDF (medium density fiberboard) are notorious for their poor holding power when it comes to most traditional fasteners. The European market found a solution for these innovative materials. Confirmat style connecting screws are designed for cabinets or other types of box construction. These unique fasteners act like a steel dowel forming a strong, stiff butt joint. They have a large shoulder under the head that locks the screw into the wood and prevents pulling through into softer materials. A tight fitting Pozi drive makes running these screws a breeze. You will notice that these thick fasteners have a blunt point. To install, simply align the two pieces and drill a pilot hole with a specially designed three step bit. A slight unthreaded portion at the tip makes it easy to line up the holes during assembly. Connecting screws can be removed and reinstalled several times without loss of holding power. 7mm x 50mm (2" nominal length) screw is for use with 3/4" thick materials. Use #3 PoziDrive bit for 7mm x 50mm. Bright zinc plated for a clean, finished look. Starter kit include: step drill bit, replacement pilot, PoziDrive bit and 100 screws.
